Mr. Perry is responsible for overseeing all legal matters involving Hovde Financial, Inc., Hovde Capital, Inc., Hovde Private Equity Advisors LLC, their affiliates and their operations. In his capacity as chief legal officer, Mr. Perry assists other members of the firm in structuring and negotiating transactions. He is also involved in the negotiations of the various acquisitions made by the private equity and investment fund affiliates and is responsible for the regulatory approval process and securities-related matters.
Mr. Perry is a recognized expert in the areas of corporate, securities and financial institution matters, including complex corporate and banking mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, securities offerings (both public and private placements), and proxy contests. He has been lead counsel and strategist on numerous complex supervisory and non-supervisory acquisitions involving both foreign and domestic acquirors.
Prior to joining Hovde, Mr. Perry was a partner in the law firm of Perry, Simmons & Loots, P.C. in Washington, D.C. where his area of concentration was Banking, Corporate and Securities Law. Mr. Perry was previously in-house counsel of a large New England thrift, served as Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (now the Office of Thrift Supervision) and, after leaving that position, he was in charge of East Coast financial institution practice groups of McKenna, Conner & Cuneo, Baker & Hostetler (where he also served on the D.C. Office Management Committee), and Hogan & Hartson.
Mr. Perry received his law degree from Suffolk University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from American International College in Massachusetts, where he majored in Political Science and earned a minor in French. Mr. Perry was the recipient of the McGowan Award for outstanding scholastic achievement and public service. He has served as the Treasurer of the Special Olympics and actively supports numerous civic and charitable organizations.
